COP30 - United Nations Conference of the Parties

COP30 is the United Nations Climate Change Conference, bringing together world leaders, policymakers, researchers, and civil society to advance global action on climate mitigation, adaptation, and climate finance under the Paris Agreement.

The conference emphasizes international cooperation and the role of institutions, markets, and communities in addressing the climate crisis.  I attended COP30 in November in Belém, representing the University of Cincinnati and Global Choices, engaging in discussions on climate policy, sustainable development, and the role of higher education and youth leadership in shaping equitable climate solutions.

At COP30 in Belém, I gained valuable firsthand insight into how climate action unfolds across sectors and scales. Being immersed in negotiations and discussions helped me see clearly how academia, government, business, and NGOs each bring unique expertise and priorities — and how meaningful solutions require coordination among them. The experience particularly strengthened my grasp of climate policy and the mechanisms through which research, innovation, and advocacy are translated into real-world frameworks and commitments.
